Crafty Crafterson

I have been meaning to do this little project for quite some time now. I was initially going to give it as a crafty Christmas present but... yeah that never happened. HAHA! So, now I have a reason to get my butt in gear and share it with you.

ummm title of this will be..

Girly Lace Metallic Coasters

Oh la la!

SOOOoooooo....

Cast of Characters:

Metallic Spray Paint
From walmart.

Ceramic tile super inexpensive
From Home Depot

Clear Coat Spray Paint (flat) because I wanted a matte color.
From Walmart
I already had this lying around because I made THE CUTEST painted pumpkins at halloween for my little cousin and nephew. Hopefully I will remember to do a tutorial on those as well when halloween comes around.

Felt pads for the bottoms of the tile
Not sure where I got this. Make sure they have an adhesive back.

A roll of lace
From Walmart.

AAAAND colored paint...
USE SPRAY PAINT!
I used acrylic paint which I'm sure isn't the best but its the only thing I had..! :)

I didn't take a picture of said paint because it is EXTREMELY old and weird looking.. HAHA!
;)

ONWARD!
:)
I probably made every mistake I could possibly make so I will be sure to address it and give you little tips and tricks! haha

So, to start, stick the little felt pads on each corner of the tile. Like so...

Next thing I did was spray a light coat of the Flat clear coat so that the acrylic paint can have some kind of texture to stick to.
*IMPORTANTE*
Be sure to follow all of the directions on the spray paint can... and use common sense... ya know like
spray in a well ventilated area.
safety first.
blah blah blah.
You can just read the can... reading is good for you.
;)

Now paint! :)

Once you have done that you want to let it DRY COMPLETELY which isn't too long.
Then spray with a clear coat of spray paint.
The reason why you want to wait for it to dry to spray it with clear coat is because little bulges and blobs and separations will go on when you're not looking! haha at least thats my excuse! ;)
see white separations.. tisk tisk.
Now, you want to wrap the lace around the tile and secure it with a peice of tape.. any tape will do as you can see the only thing I had close by was electrical tape so I just used that! haha!
YAAAY!!
Now you want to spray directly above the tile and remove the lace as soon as you are satisfied with the coating you have... And I say spray directly above the lace the proper length away from the tile or else this will happen..
RUH ROH RAGGY!
It's still cute though! haha but I was somewhat squatted down and wasn't really using my noggin' so.. yeah.. that happened.

I think my favorite is the little artsy fartsy one in the corner! :)
I made that artsy one by doing the opposite of my directions... I sprayed it with metallic first and then used acrylic... BAD IDEA! So, I had to rinse it off... but then I ended up with that little gem and its a little oddball cutie! haha

There might be a tad bit of paint that peels off... I don't think I let it dry long enough but i just touched it up a bit with acrylic paint and its all good! :)

HUZZAH!

Aren't they just the cutest?!
;)

If you aren't in a crafty mood or don't have the time/ space to do this...
